We are always interested in hearing from prospective graduate students! Please spend time exploring our work to see if we may be a good fit before reaching out. We are open to working with graduate students from a variety of backgrounds, but we are especially interested in hearing from prospective students with academic training and/or experience in the social sciences. Students who thrive in our lab are driven, intellectually curious, and they share in our collaborative ethos. If you think our collaborative might be a good fit for you, please email Rebecca Gruby with an initial expression of interest, including your CV/Resume and a description of why you want to pursue a graduate school, why you are interested in working with us specifically, and any other relevant information about your background and experience. Doctoral students interested in working with us must apply to the Ph.D. program in Environmental Science and Policy, which is administered by the Abess Center for Ecosystem Science & Policy. See here for more information about the program and application instructions: https://abess.miami.edu/academics/ph.d.-program/degree-program/index.html. Master’s students interested in working with us must apply to the M.S. in Marine Ecosystems and Society program in the Department of Environmental Science and Policy: https://bulletin.miami.edu/graduate-academic-programs/marine-atmospheric-science/marine-ecosystems-and-society/marine-ecosystems-society-ms/#text The number of graduate student openings in our lab in any given year is dependent on the availability of funding. We currently have openings for 1-2 PhD students to join our collaborative in the 2024-2025 academic year.
We occasionally have openings for student hourly positions and/or Federal work-study students to work with us on specific projects. These positions are dynamic and typically short-term so please reach out if you’re interested.
We periodically have openings for post-doctoral fellows to work with us on funded research projects. These positions will be posted here when available. We also welcome inquiries from prospective post-docs who are writing their own proposals or who have already secured external funding or fellowships.
We welcome opportunities to host visiting scholars, artists, and/or practitioners who are interested in learning with our collaborative at Rosenstiel.
